Title: Jada Wheel Swap
uncle_emo - March 8, 2008 04:47 AM (GMT)
Hello,
I tried my hand a swapping wheels on the these two items. I had been wanting to make a High Profile VW Bus so I swapped wheels. I like the lifted look of the bus but I don't really like the wheels...don't care for the red in the wheel. I will be looking for some better looking wheels to replace these.
I do like the low rider look on the VW Pick-up. I have made another little change to the Pick-up...will post more pictures later.
I hope to do a few more of these with better results especially on the bus.

Thanks for looking and enjoy the pictures.
Take care and be good...Eddie

Nice swap! That pickup is killer as a lowrider.

Here is a better picture of the low rider VW Pick-up with a slight modification as compared to the previous picture of the Pick-up. Can you tell the difference?

Take care...Eddie

The original High Profile VW Pick-up had both front and rear bumpers but in the end both came off...I like the looks of the pickup without the bumpers. Initially I left the front bumper on but didn't really like it that way.
Dave, doing the wheel swaps on these Jada pieces wasn't too hard because Jada uses screws as the primary method of fastening. This was my first attempt and it didn't take very much time at all especially considering that it was my first swap. Give it a shot...you will enjoy it.
Take care all and be good...Eddie

Hey Eddie,if you can find some 1BaddRide trucks hanging anywhere, the suspension and wheels from them look much better when doing the swaps,at least I like them anyway, thats why whenever I see a couple of the 4x4's hanging, they come home with me.
Great work by the way.

Hey Gene, thanks for tip on the Baddride trucks...I have seen those on the pegs and I agree that the wheels and tires on those do look better and more realistic than the Jada setup. I may have to grab few and give it a try. Is the interchange easy between Baddride and Jada?
Thanks again for the info...Eddie

the interchange ain't bad, nothing a little trimming and then some JB weld can't fix.If you're asking do the screw holes match up,unfortunatley they don't,there is a difference.

OK, I have made some mods to the High Rise Bus. I did not take anything from another vehicle...just made some some changes to the one pictured in the top photo. I wanted to make it look different from the original bus.
Before

After...

Thanks for looking and enjoy.
Take care...Eddie

Greetings from Columbus , Georgia. Susan and I are visiting our son, Kevin, for a couple of days...we spent most of the day with him today and we will have a couple of hours with him tomorrow before we head home.
I was fun making the changes to the bus but I am not sure how much more I will do...if and when I do may more wheel swaps or similar mods I will be sure and post some photos.
Thanks for looking and for all your comments.
Take care...Eddie

Hey, MJ, I hope you had a nice time in Florida...did the weather cooperate? How was the diecast hunting?
Yes, that is a good laugh about my customizing skills...well maybe skills is not the right word...customizing attempts would be more accurate. I only do simple stuff...no where even close to the same league of other customizers on this board. I will leave the difficult complex detail work to them.
Take care and good to see you back on the boards MJ...Eddie

It was cloudy but very hot and humid.
Hunting was so so. I did find a few Pixar cars but lucked out on Jada.
As for your customizing attemps, I'm sure with more practice, you'll get there!
